Is going into another studio in order to learn new exercises without consent and teaching them elsewhere a form of stealing?

ENOUGH OF THIS CRAP ALREADY PEOPLE!!!!

Oh no......you know I'm on fire today!!! I've been debating for a long time about whether to address this issue or not. I've been trying to keep this blog professional. A place to inform the "people" about Pilates and to post guest articles that are valid opinions from other trainers and students. For todays post, I'm going to say what a lot of you want to say and what MANY of you need to hear. I will be blunt and to the point because my goal is to make this point loud and clear.

I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS COMPETITIVE, BACKSTABBING, UNETHICAL, GOD COMPLEX, BULL CRAP FROM PEOPLE IN OUR INDUSTRY!!!!!!

First off, it is okay to agree to disagree thoughtfully in the comments section. DO NOT write rude comments as a vendetta against the writer or the opinion of the article. SERIOUSLY? IT'S JUST NOT COOL. Also, don't put a link to sell your garbage on my site. Did I really need to make that point?

Secondly, there are enough potential clients in this world that our industry needs to knock off this childish, competitive behavior amongst studios. It's absolutely ridiculous. A client is going to be faithful to their trainer when they form a total Pilates connection, both on an exercise level and on a personal level. That's it guys!!! The key to client retention!!! I have no problem with my competition because they aren't competition for me. They are in no way a threat to me or the way I run my studio. I'm in a different league. Please stop all the studio bashing!!!

Now is the time to take notes....

The other week I had a fantastic lunch with my "competition". I met another studio owner for lunch. Our studios are in neighboring cities...literally within 5 miles from each other. We have different training backgrounds and different teaching styles. Neither one better than the other, we're just different. We come together as strong business women that respect each other and share the same passion for Pilates. We just share ideas and support each other. As we walked out of the restaurant she pointed to the community board and said, "How do you like my free advertising?" I laughed and said, "I guess my business cards will stay in my purse today since we are on your turf." It's just all about respect people.

Since I started off with a pretty harsh attack, I will leave the comments section open to all harsh responses for those of you that feel the need to do so (no swearing please). I guess I've spent over a decade always being the bigger person and holding my tongue on this issue. I guess I was hoping that someday these attacks on each other would end. Maybe if I ignore it the problem will go away? Does holding my tongue on this issue really make me a bigger person? Well, today I cracked. Maybe as trainers we should do a little more self exploration and control the egotistical attitudes? How can we possibly help our clients find balance when we don't practice what we preach amongst our peers? Maybe we should all make an effort to play nice in the sandbox?

i also have a blog, and since you're the 'owner' of this blog, you should be able to have control of the comments before they go public....that might eliminate all of the 'crap.' :-)

I am aware of the "control" I have to delete and approve comments as I see fit on my blog. The "crap" What I am referring to goes beyond comment approval (by the way, that personally had nothing to do with me...it was just the last straw). I have now decided to call out every Pilates trainer or studio owner that thinks they have some god given right to be caddy towards others in our profession. I've been dealing with that my entire career and now I'm seeing it in my blog towards others. Each and every person that works in this business knows exactly what I'm talking about. I have decided to finally open my usually quiet mouth and tell the whole world...If you can't say something nice than keep your mouth shut.
